General Observations:
Measurements -
- Bur oak tree branch - 60 inches
- inches to centimeters conversion -
2.54n = c
2.54(60) = c
c = 152.4
- bur oak tree branch = 152.4 cm
- water depth: my water is still dried up!!
Biota -
- 2 bur oak trees
- common green foxtail
- 7 wild turkeys!
- miniature daisy
- field cricket
Differences from previous months -
- Seasonal changes:
- NO leaves on one bur oak tree!
- the leaves that have fallen to the ground are turning brown and crumbly
- It is much cooler outside!
- it is getting dark outside sooner, so I am going to have to plan earlier visits to my ecosystem
- my bur oak tree "measuring branch" has grown drastically since last month! I never knew trees grew this rapidly.
- The actual tree is getting taller as well. This is becoming a small problem for the under-5-foot person who is supposed to measure it.
- The entire area seemed more barren and deserted. Much of the foliage and plant life is dying, and decreasing in population. I found one lonely miniature daisy which was very different from the large patch I usually find.
- I have found many naturally caused holes in the ground. This must mean the animals are going into hibernation.
- The corn is gone, meaning growing season is over. Maybe I will have water next month!
